Life is about the people you meet and the things you create with them, so go out and start creating. Live your dream, and wear your passion. Life is short."

WE ARE KNITTERS - ALL THE HAPPINESS IN A KIT TOUR

Hola knitters!

WE ARE KNITTERS en Loving Ideas

Feliz Navidad!

Hi knitters!

Christmas is coming. You can feel it in the air. Lights on the streets, decoration in every shop, smiling kids everywhere 'cause they know they are about to get all the presents, etc.

In WE ARE KNITTERS we feel it too. Because Christmas is around the corner, we decided to pack our things and continue our THE ALL THE HAPPINESS IN A KIT TOUR in the north of Spain, Galicia.

Although there were moments when we thought we wouldn't arrive because of the rain and fog in the highway, we did it! We got a bit late on Thursday's evening to Cherries Boutique in Vigo. They had prepared hot chocolate and had some snacks. We were surprised by the amount of people that came to learn how to knit. At first it was a bit chaotic, but eventually we got to deal with the situation and everything went perfect. Thank you very much Borja, it was really cool to be there! :)

On Friday it was the turn of Pontevedra. We didn't know much about the city, so we went there a bit earlier to do a bit of tourism...we loved its streets! You could find those old little shops that in Madrid no longer exist. The city center also has that Middle Age kind of feel that we fell in love with it. We recommend 100% a visit to this little city.

So, at 6pm started the knitting party in Loving Ideas. We must say that it is the most special place we've ever seen! It is in the second floor of a really old building. Its owner, Maruxa, has done an incredible work there. We couldn't believe what we where watching. Little gardens in the middle of a room, 50's nordic furniture, original tiled floors, etc. everything with the best taste. It was really easy for us to teach in this place to the girls that came this time around; they were really funny as well. We got to eat croissants, little pieces of chocolate, some candy and Heineken beer specially customized for Loving Ideas. THANKS Maruxa! We will never forget this knitting-party!! :) We have so many photos that we will do a special post about it so you can see it all by yourself!

On Saturday we closed our north tour. It was the turn of La Coruña in one of the most lovely shops over there: Arts & Crafts. Its owner, Bego, was the very first person to believe in WE ARE KNITTERS when we show it to her around August, so it was really special for us to do something with her. Even though it is a little shop, it has that good taste and dedication kind of feeling, so it turns to be a really special place. We had lots of fun teaching to all the people that came while we ate the delicious food she had prepared and drank some champagne. We talked, talked and talked and then we realized it was almost midnight! Thank you very much Bego, you're the BEST!!

2011 is getting to an end and so it is THE ALL THE HAPPINESS IN A KIT TOUR. We added and extra special date on December 24th at NAC (18 Génova St. Madrid) from 10am to 3pm!! See you all there!

Merry Christmas!

xoxo

CALIFORNIA inspiration!

WE ARE KNITTERS: III Knitting Party en la tele!!

I'm gonna drink my tears tonight,
I'm gonna drink my tears and cry,
`cause I know you love me baby
I know you love me baby

ALL THE HAPPINESS IN A KIT TOUR.

Otras fechas:
- jueves 15 de diciembre: Cherries (C/Venezuela nº15, Vigo)
- viernes 16 de diciembre: Loving Ideas (C/Peregrina nº29, Pontevedra)
- sábado 17 de diciembre: Arts & Crafts (C/ Juan Flórez nº51, La Coruña)

Nos vemos por allí!

xoxo

The big day arrived. You already know we organize knitting parties in Madrid. People who attend love them because they learn how to knit and because of the food we serve but, how could we reach more people with our knitting passion so the knitting-manie spreads everywhere?

The answer is, of course, through the TV. We could say last Sunday's knitting party was a mass media knitting party.

Elisa and Piluca were putting the final touches to Lo Siguiente's Christmas decoration when we arrived with all our yarn balls, needles, patterns, etc. It was quite a mess but we decided to put yarn balls on the tables, needles on the walls and WE ARE KNITTERS' kits everywhere. We were running out of time because the TV was about to arrive but the results were amazing!

When they got to the bar everything was ready. We started with Cuatro and followed with Antena 3 (two of the biggest Spanish TV channels). We answered lots of questions, they filmed from every corner of the bar and talked to our knitters while they were knitting, though some better than others, no offence Max ;) We don't know yet when it's going to be aired, but we will inform you, don't worry!

Once the TV interviews were over we could focus on what we really like: teach how to knit while we eat a really good brunch. Some have turned into senior knitters like Úrsula, Blanca or Beatriz but we also have some new people, like Carmen and Andreita. They learnt how to knit their Dumbo Snood and Sienna Beanie so they can wear them this winter.

We were there for almost 4 hours but we must confess that it gets more enjoyable every time. This Saturday, December 10th we will be at Lo Siguiente (C/Fernando VI nº11, Madrid) from 6 p.m. with our ALL THE HAPPINESS IN A KIT TOUR.

Other dates are:
- Thursday, December 15th: Cherries (C/Venezuela nº15, Vigo)
- Friday, December 16th: Loving Ideas (C/Peregrina nº29, Pontevedra)
- Saturday, December 17th: Arts & Crafts (C/Juan Flórez nº 51, La Coruña)

See you all there!

WE ARE KNITTERS' photoshoot: Behind The Scenes

Girls can wear jeans
and cut their hair short.
Wear shirts and boots.
'Cause its ok to be a boy.
But for a boy to look like a girl is degrading
'cause you think that being a girl is degrading.
But secretly you'd love to know what it's like,
wouldn't you?
What it feels like for a girl.

How are you knitters?

Check it! Podríais llevaros alguna grata sorpresa! (http://mrjuancocco.blogspot.com/).

Merci beaucoup girls!

How are you knitters?

As we already told you a couple of weeks ago on Facebook, we decided to do another photoshoot of our Autumn/Winter 2011 collection. We will publish de pics really soon, but in the meantime we'll show you the ´making-of´.

Because we love its unique atmosphere and hidden places, we chose the Malasaña area in Madrid to do the shooting. We did it on a Sunday, when this place gets more quiet, if it gets "quiet" at all anytime.

The photographer who directed the photoshoot was Rosa Copado. We met her at Madrid Fashion Week and it was love at first sight: her personality, her style and, most of all, her art with the camera! We were jumping in our seats when we learnt that she wanted to take our pics 'cause we loved her work and knew it would be the best!

We chose the models on purpouse because they reflect perfectly our philosophy: they are young, they are trendy, they like to travel and they are not afraid to be different.

The girls are the coolest twins in Madrid: Marta and Irene Corral. We know them since a long time and not only they are beautiful but also they are the FUNNIEST girls we've ever met. We couldn't help laughing all the time during some parts of the shoot!

He is Juan Cocco. We didn't know him personally, but we admired his style, so we asked him to participate and he thought it would be a lot of fun. He turned to be a really nice guy who writes his own blog: he posts his thoughts, his tastes, where he buys, his lifestyle, etc. Check it out! He may surprise you: (http://mrjuancocco.blogspot.com/).

We ended the shoot quite tired having some pizzas for lunch at around 5 p.m. but the results are awesome, so it was worth the effort! We are willing to show you the photos, hopefully you will love them as much as we do!

All of this wouldn't have been possible without the help of our ´assistants´ Marta, Irene (they are not twins) and Tita! Merci beaucoup girls!

xo.

WE ARE KNITTERS: II Knitting Party / Yes, We Knit!

"Cool I am when I am with you, cool I'm not when I am lonely"

Y como dijo nuestra amiga Elisa: YES, WE KNIT!!

xoxo

Ça va knitters!

Last Saturday we held another knitting party @ Lo Siguiente and we must say it was a success! This time we got together at 6 p.m. and bit by bit all the knitters came around.

As we knew we were going to be more people than the first time, we had an entire floor for us (thanks a lot girls!). That's where we had the food served: little ham & cheese and roast-beef sandwiches, Spanish omelettes, cokes and some gins too! Everything was delicious! :)

The girls who attended the first knitting party wanted to show us the results: Piluca had already finished her two beanies; Úrsula finished her High-Line Loop with us (although she may have to knit again some rows; don't worry girl, that happens to everyone!) and Elisa continued to knit her coral Cucho Scarf. Blanca came at the end just to say hello and promised to show us her Loop in the next knitting party!

Most of the new joiners decided to knit our most famous design, the High-Line Loop in all of its colors: grey, coral, turquoise, honey and brown! Piluca, who is about to become a professional knitter, wanted to knit a Wes Side Vest. On the other hand, Clari prefered to start with a honey Soho's Snood. Mel, who had already knitted a High-Line Loop, decided to repeat the design but this time in grey. She came with her needles and her pattern and bought the yarn balls so she could get started!

It was a great afternoon. Most people got the chance to meet each other, learn how to knit and continue knitting their own things while talking about their lifes!

The next knitting party is going to be very soon we will tell you about it) but it will be in Lo Siguiente for sure!! And as our friend Elisa said: YES, WE KNIT!!

WE ARE KNITTERS' First Knitting Party

Hola knitters!

Hello knitters!

This past Friday was WE ARE KNITTERS' first ever ´Knitting Party´! We decided to do it in ´LoSiguiente´, a cool café/restaurant/pub in the even cooler district of Las Salesas in Madrid.

It started at 6:30 pm so, once we got to park our car, the party started!

The first we did was to explain to the new ´knitters´ what's inside the kit, which are our designs and the colors they could choose. Blanca & Úrsula decided to knit a honey High-Line Loop each. Elisa chose to try with a coral Cucho Scarf and Piluca couldn't resist to both of our new beanies: Cuqui's & Sienna Beanies. Furthermore, Marta & Irene came with their honey and grey West Side Vests and, even they were started, they continued knitting while we talked! Also, our super friend Nati came with us just to help us a bit :)

It was a really fun afternoon for us. We could teach our new friends how to knit and we passed on our passion to them! At first it was a bit hard for them but after 3 or 4 knitted rows they were true experts!!

Elisa & Piluca are the owners of LoSiguiente and they gave us some delicious snacks: Spanish omelette, ham & cheese sandwiches, coffee, coke and some gintonics! :)

We will tell you really soon when is the next knitting party but, what we can tell you already is that it will be @ LoSiguiente!!

WE ARE KNITTERS' creative process!!

Hi knitters!!

See you there guys!

xx

Hi knitters!

as we told you last week, we've been very busy with lots of things: we went to Fundación Humanae, we filmed a video for Enfant Terrible along with other designers (you can also see in the video our friends Nati & Ele, thanks for coming girls!), we've been in talks with some shops that will sell our kits in the near future and we have organised everything for tomorrow's KNITTING PARTY! There are more things to come, we will tell you...

But in what we have put all of our effort is in the design of our new clothes!! They are going to be ready really soon, so meanwhile we are going to show you the creative process behind WE ARE KNITTERS!

We can tell you there are going to be a snood, two beanies and a sweater. But for the moment we are only going to tell you the snood's name: DUMBO SNOOD!! We have noticed that our scarfs, loops and snoods are a success, so we decided to create a new one! In this case, we used the moss stitch. It is very easy to knit and once you've finished is really beautiful to see.

The process is very dynamic: when we have an idea of what we want to do, we start to knit it and, at the same time, we write down in our recyclable Moleskines the measures. We change these numbers all the time because what we thought we liked at first, in the end we are not 100& into it or is just repetitive for us.

As you can see in the photos of the sketch, DUMBO SNNOD was meant to be a scarf, but in the end we decided to turn it into a loop. We knitted the final version in turquoise because we wanted something light and fun! But, as you already know, it will be available in all our colors...

It was a coincidence, but our friend Mel came to see us to our studio and, after convincing her (we didn't have to insist that much, you know? Thanks Mel!) we went to the solarium in the top floor and we took some cool pics!

We can' t wait to see the photos you send us with your DUMBO SNOODs already knitted!! Coming soon...

Don't forget our date @ LoSiguiente (C/Fernando VI, nº11 Madrid) for our first ever KNITTING PARTY!! See you there guys!!

WE ARE KNITTERS @ Fundación Humanae

"I know from experience that if you have to ask for something more than once or twice, it wasn't yours in the first place"

Hola knitters!

WE ARE KNITTERS - Fundación Humanae (http://www.fundacionhumanae.org/)

Muchas gracias chicos!!

xx

Hello Knitters!

These last few days we've been doing lots of things, but the one we are most proud of is the collaboration between WE ARE KNITTERS and Humanae Foundation (http://www.fundacionhumanae.org/).

This foundation just turned 7 this past week, so we gave them 2 of our kits so their Facebook friends could be entered into a draw!

Last Friday was its Birthday Party and we must say we loved to be there! Our friends Nati, Marta & Marta came with us and we listened to all the things Dr. Santos and her team told us: the foundation's story, the different activities they do with theis patients and their immediate and future plans.

The truth is that by listening to people so inspiring that acts as good as they do makes you think about how many things a brain, two hands and the need to help others can do!!

One person we loved to meet was Borja López. He is a man who, after suffering a terrible car accident, started a project we are passionate about. He calls it "Meeting Art": once or twice a month he helds an event in his house, where he shows and sells the art pieces of young artists. Everybody is invited to go, you just have to send him an email (comercial@tucuartodearte.com) and he will tell you when is the next exhibition! We are really looking forward to go to the next one, it will be our first time! (http://www.tucuartodearte.com/)

Well, we must also confess that we loved the chocolate cake the Humanae guys had prepared!! It was delicious!! Thank you very much!!

WE ARE KNITTERS @ Daisy Market (La Coruña)

""You're gonna have to face it, you're addicted to love"

Hello knitters!

Gracias Daisy Market!!

Hello knitters!

This weekend we attended Daisy Market, a new fair held in La Coruña since not along ago. WE ARE KNITTERS must confess that is in love with Galicia: the views, the people and on top of that...the food!!

After a long road trip (sweets included) Daisy started for us on Saturday morning. While receiving people in our stand, we were also able to attend some speeches given by Loreak Mendian and La Casita de Wendy (http://www.lacasitadewendy.com/). They were so inspiring that we took pages of notes!! Later on, Inés from La Casita came to see our kits and we have to say that she's a really nice and down-to-Earth person. We will take into account all of her pieces of advice!! Moreover, she's the mum of a little girl that is the sweetest thing.

We also talked to Rebeca, one of the girls from Terrón de Azúcar ((http://rebecaterron.blogspot.com/2010/09/terron-de-azucar-presentaterrones.html) ...she loved WE ARE KNITTERS, so we did with her own thing. Check it out, they have a really "sweet" and funny concept!

But the thing that caught our eye the most was possibly Smiles Store (http://blogsmiles.wordpress.com/). It is an old warehouse in the suburbs of Coruña turned into a multi-tasking space: teaching rooms, shop, etc. all with a true NYC touch. We think it is really interesting and the minds behind it, Su & Neko, are people to learn from. Recommendation: if you ever go to La Coruña, go and visit Smiles Store, you're going to love it for sure!

Last but not least, we were happy to came across with ElSuso Dicho siblings (http://www.elsuso.com/), Bernat & Núria. We both were @ El Ego de Cibeles, but because one thing or the other we couldn't get to know each other. This time around we didn't miss the oppotunity! Keep an eye on them, they will give a lot to talk about...

Something we have noticed these days is the number of interesting people we are getting to know in the fairs we are going! This is something we love about our job...to learn about people that believes in their dreams and puts as much passion as us in their project!!

Thanks Daisy Market!
